Hello all,
Why is it in some countries do they have more pads than tampons? Do some countries teach women/girls that tampons are bad? Or is it just due to what girls/women rather use?

Tampon usage is slowly increasing in Asia. I think the reasons for low use are two-fold, first most girls simply use what their mothers used, and also tampons are not advertised widely so not many girls know about them. I think tampon advertising is banned in most Asian counties.
In South America Tampax had a big advertising campaign and they are now widely used.
In Phillipines they are almost unheard of. I think there is an additional religious aspect there. I have asked a few Phillipines girls about this and most of them have no idea they even exist. A few said they found the idea horrifying.
One result of this is there are so many different pads available in these countries including some really huge ones for people who, in the West would use tampons and pads and seek medical treatment. I have come across Thai and Phils girls with periods which most people would not believe are possible and still be relatively healthy.

About three years ago I had a girl in the Phils do some custom pics for me of her and her gf with tampons. I asked about the cost and she told me that at the time tampons were in the range of a dollar apiece. Lot of money for most Phils.
