Hi all. Long time lurker on previous versions of Kayo's and thought i ought to sign up if only to tell you about the BBC mini series "The Outcast". Only actually watched last weeks edition and it was pretty gloomy apart from one scene. The series is srt in England probably in the 1950s and a teenage girl takes a bit of a shine to the main character who is suffering from seeing his mother drown in a river whilst picnicing years esrlier.
The girl goes into the bathroom removes her knickers and sees blood in the crotch. She reaches into the cabinet and pulls out a round tin containing sanitary towels and belts. She pulls out a looped towel and stretches it out with her fingers. The next view is of her standing on the floor and gradually pulling up the belt and towel until it disappears under her skirt and into position.
There is no nudity and it is pretty tastefully done, i imagine as much for history education purposes as anything. Unless of course the producer is a regular visitor here. For those in the UK it is on BBC I player and other countries might find it on youtube. If like me you are attracted to the older sanitary towels with belts and straps, it will be up your street.

I always wonder about period scenes in movies that don't advance the story.... sort of like, the screenwriter just suddenly had an urge to throw in a bit of menstrual intrigue for the fun of it. Not like Carrie, of course... but it seems like there might be more period-fans out there than you might imagine, haha.
