Besides seeing "Profile disabled" at the top of the page, below it I see "We are currently having trouble serving this page. Various features and privileges are not available for this chat session." I am getting this message at tinychat.com/flowforum I am only able to sign in there as a "guest." I also wonder if this has scared other people away (I haven't seen any other people there in the past few days since this problem started--but then I often go for a dew says without seeing anyone there.)
Anyone have any idea how long this problem will last or what can be done about it? |

It seems I only come around here once a month these days. I have not worked any issues on tinychat since Feb. 2013 and I have to refresh my memory on how this site works. I did do a few quick system checks. I was the one who originally registered (for free) the user name <flowforum> so no one else could hijack the forum room. While working that problem, I also set up two other accounts for testing. After that, I gave the passwords to Kayo and Jada for the <flowforum> account. Today, I tried logging into all three accounts, and the error message indicates my three account names are not registered at present. So, I did a little market research and see from their two twitter accounts: twitter.com/tinychattwitter.com/TinychatDevthat they recently updated their software. Now, I can't tell if the old account list refused to run or if they wanted to purge old accounts. I also don't know if we can register that again for free. There is no longer a Help file on the Tinychat site. I registered those accounts with a email provider that went belly up, so if Tinychat sent any notices or sales pitches, I did not get them. It has been so long I forgot where I put the account details for these Tinychat accounts. As for me, I now spend my time watching a lot of European TV shows on the websites of mostly public broadcasting members of the Eurovision Broadcasting Union (EBU). Twenty years ago, when I first found Bianca's, I never even dreamed I would be able to watch European TV in my living room for free. |

I found Kevin in the chat room tonight, and we did a little troubleshooting. It allowed me to understand more fully the nature of the problem. I will send an email to Tinychat's support department to report this problem. In the early days (and I think this feature still exists), users could set up an ad hoc chat room and pass the name around using other means. Lets say someone picked the chat room name TampaxAuburnMaine. They would send a message to everyone they invited to meet at tinychat.com/TampaxAuburnMAine. The problem is that someone who opened an account could then take control of that account and password protect it. When I learned this, I opened an account and claimed flowforum as mine and set the channel (chat) for no password protection. Tonight I checked the other two test accounts I created at the time as well and see they all have that "Profile disabled" message. However, if I make up a new chat room name such as "EnkiBracajAlbanianNewscasts" there will be no such message at the top of the page. I also could not get Tinychat to work using the latest versions of Firefox and Adobe Flash. The Adobe Flash plugin just keeps crashing. In the meantime, the work around devised by Kevin will allow use of the chat room, but the moderators will not be able to modify any features. |

Only way I can get it is through Facebook or similar and I'm not going to do that. Weird thing is, I can get into MY room. I had set this to private when kids took it over. It's no longer private and someone left a gift of red roses. Weird.
ETA: I did get in as guest. I will continue trying to get in there as I have news to share but I don't want to post it here. Will try to stay in there for awhile.

I am in the chat now. But... I can't post. I am in view only mode and apparently my name isn't listed. VF is in there and can't see who I am. It's telling me to do the Captcha but no Captcha is coming up. I click that I am not a robot and it puts a check mark but nothing happens.
And now... I can get the Captcha and I did do it but...nothing. I can only seem to view. What's the trick to getting in?

Hi Jada, I sent you an email so we can communicate. In the email, I expressed my opinion that the problem most likely is that the new Tinychat software is hosed.
The way I was able to communicate with Kevin the other night was:
1. I used Internet Explorer 11 under Windows 7.
2. I could not use In-Private browsing, I blew away all my cookies and then logged in to Tinychat.
3. I did have to do the Captcha one time. After that, I was able to go in and out.
4. The steps: Went to http://tinychat/flowforum
Did the captcha
In the blue-bordered box, clicked on Guest, third button from the left.
Typed a name in the box under the prompt: "Enter a user name"
Clicked on the blue "Go" button.
That's about it for now.

I did get the email. I still can only get in to view. I am not even getting the Captcha now. I have an old computer and am still running Vista. Don't plan on updating until I have to. I did get more RAM added so I can. But for now I can't update the browser.
I was having trouble with my bank earlier. Was told to clear everything out. I was getting lax on that and hadn't done it for some time. Bank is fine now. Had hoped it would solve this problem but apparently not.

Vista is a tough one. Microsoft ended support for Vista on April 11, 2017. I think only the Opera browser versions up to 36 still run under Vista and will probably be automatically selected if you try to install Opera.
While I can't be sure that an old operating system and old browser are what is preventing you from posting to Tinychat, it certainly is a possibility. The Tinychat developers are probably testing against Windows 10 with the latest versions of Google Chrome, Firefox, and Microsoft's Edge browser.
One workaround is to buy one of those versions of Windows 7 on Ebay for about 10 dollars. At that price, they usually sell you a product key and have you download the software directly from Microsoft. I see they have upgrade versions available which will probably ease the upgrade from Vista. But you probably need a shop to install it for you. I wouldn't even attempt it myself.
Every time I had to upgrade my computer because nothing would run on it anymore, I purchased a refurbished one. IBM Credit Corporation is presently selling a refurbished Lenovo (the people IBM sold their PC desktop business to) desktop for $314.20 with Windows 10 Professional 64 bit edition and Intel Core i5. A lot of people are now buying laptops instead and IBM has a bunch of good deals on them too. Unfortunately, I don't keep up with the new market, so don't know what a new one would cost you.
While Microsoft will provide some support for Window 7 until January 14, 2020, I will probably have to upgrade sooner because too many websites will not run well on the old platform.
I know, who needs to spend money on something that electrically still works fine?

I don't want Windows 7. Daughter got a virus on her brand new computer some year ago that only affects Windows 7. Repair shop said there was nothing we could do to avoid it and it was a bear to remove. She wouldn't use FB for about a year because that's where she got it. Just logged into her account and there it was.

It looks like Tinychat is going to migrate to a pay site for custom chat rooms, and only their own rooms will be free. At least that's the rumor, lol. Try this link to a NEW chatroom. I set it up this morning, and it seems to be working just fine on my laptop, desktop, and phone. I don't know how it looks on a non-windows or Android platform but the FAQ says it works on everything. Flow Forum Chatroom on ChatzyThis one allows adult conversation. It is a private room, very easy to use, works on all browsers and smart devices. No software to download. Let me know how it goes! All you have to do is provide a user name and email. They will send you a temporary password. Use it to log in, change the password to whatever you want, create a user name, and you're good to go. I hope this works for everyone. If not.... back to square one. You will need a password to enter the Chat: kayocath

I have setup a Chatzy account, but it is asking me for a password to enter the chatroom.
Is there a separate password required for the Flow Forum Chatroom please?
