This article is about Harry Finley who ran the Museum of Menstruation. Interestingly for me, there’s an Aussie connection – he’s leaving his collection to the Powerhouse Museum in Sydney. The PM had an exhibition titled ‘The rags: paraphernalia of menstruation’. Though the exhibition has closed, there’s some info about it here: www.powerhousemuseum.com/rags/index.php Wish I’d seen it, but I don’t live in Sydney, and I didn’t get around to it. Rather sad how his family treated him. I get that a male being who is that interested in menstruation is unusual, but to treat him like a pariah is a bit over the top. Anyway, here’s the article: www.vice.com/read/how-one-man-ran-the-worlds-only-museum-of-menstruation-from-his-basement-511 The Museum of Menstruation is closed, but many of the exhibits can be viewed online at www.mum.org/

I seem to remember www.mum.org being one of the places that was frequently linked to on the DCJ version of The Flow Forum way back when. It really is a great resource from some of the more fascinating aspects of menstruation. It really is sad how Mr. Finley's family treated him, and a shame that he's closed the Museum of Menstruation too. It's something I'd been curious about visiting after browsing Mum on several occasions, but never had been able to do. Oh well, at least the site is still around for future generations to experience.
