Using multiple pads at one time?

So, when I was growing up, I used to occasionally inspect the menstrual pads of my mother. I found that occasionally, she used to have two pads placed on top of each other to make them slightly longer. 

Has anyone else done this before? Being male, I do not bleed but I often wear the biggest menstrual pads I can find like the overnight or maternity ones. The best thing is, it's all good and no-body notices. I'm still working on my skill to detect when a woman is menstruating though.

Hopefully, I will get there some day.
