Left the office around lunch time today and happened to meet a guy I knew from university in the street.
He reminded me that one year we worked in an office during the long Christmas/New Year university vacation. We were in our late teens or early 20s and worked with a group of employees who were about the same age, but had been working full time since leaving school. For some reason, they seemed to think we had lived sheltered lives, and a couple of them would occasionally say things they thought would make us uncomfortable.
One morning, I was the only one in the office when Emily, who was early 20s, and attractive, with long blonde hair, arrived at work. Instead of saying ‘’hi’’, as she walked past my desk, she said, “I started my period this morning.” I guess she reckoned that would shock me. If only she knew that I would have liked to ask her all about her period – bet that would have creeped her out!
