Female athletes have experienced an increase in menstrual symptoms during the coronavirus pandemic, with the living and exercise constraints caused by global lockdowns thought to be disrupting their menstrual cycles. Painful cramps, heavier bleeding and changes in menstrual cycle lengths are just some of the symptoms that women have reported on the period tracking app FitrWoman since the middle of March. FitrWoman helps women of all fitness abilities harness their menstrual cycles to improve athletic performance. The app, which has shared some of its headline data exclusively with Telegraph Sport, has noted that up to 45 percent of its female athletes experience abnormalities in their menstrual cycles.
