When I was in the Army we had to do a field exercise for 3 days. The old hole in the ground latrines were long gone. We had porta-potties. We also had females in the unit. When we were getting ready to deploy back to base the ladies packed up but left pantyliners and tampon tubes where they had set up. I had to gather the ranking female and told her to get the items policed up. When the individual that was responsible for the porta-potties had to take them back to be emptied he ran into a small problem. The discharge pipe was clogged up. They had a long steel rod with a hook on the end and he had to straddle the pipe and push the rod to the holding tank and pull out the pads and liners. You can figure it out for yourself what happens next. Another incident happened that same exercise. We were setting up camp when another NCO came up to me with a young lady close by. He told me she needed to go to the rear. I asked why and she raised the blouse of her fatigues and she had a large stain visible even though we had camo fatigues. Her period had started and she did not pack any supplies. I told him to get her back without anyone else knowing and let her clean up and bring her back. Poor kid was pretty embarrassed.
