ABC tv is Australia’s national broadcaster and it has a program, Gruen, which is about advertising. Last night, the program's panel discussed an ad for Bodyform pads and tampons which departs from the usual “blue liquid” depiction of periods. Here’s a link to the ad: www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Q1GVOYIcKcThe two female members of the panel, while they agreed it was good that the ad actually referred to blood, had different views. One woman liked the ad, but the other was ambivalent – she thought the ad was an almost masculine response to dealing with periods. She said that when she has her period, she doesn’t feel as strong as at other times of the month and that it should be ok for her to feel that way. Be interesting to hear what others, particularly the female members of the forum, if they’d like to respond, think of the ad. It certainly seems to have attracted interest on YouTube – the ad's had over 1.7 million views since it was posted in May 2016 and over 500 viewers have commented on the ad.
