On previous versions of this forum, there's been discussions about what percentage of women use tampons and what percentage use pads. According to an article on the website, The Conversation, "Figures are rubbery but in the United States it is estimated 42% of women use tampons (and likely not exclusively), compared to 62% using pads. I’d [the author of the article, Dr Lauren Rosewarne, a Senior Lecturer in the School of Social and Political Sciences at the University of Melbourne] speculate most Western countries have similar figures." theconversation.com/tampon-versus-pad-why-more-women-still-choose-the-latter-to-manage-periods-64546In fact, there are figures available for Australia. According to Roy Morgan Research, "In an average four weeks during 2014, around 3.2 million women aged 14-54 bought sanitary pads (50%), 2.1 million bought tampons (33%) and 1.6 million bought panty liners (24%). Around 1 in 10 women in this age group bought all three feminine products in an average month." www.roymorgan.com/findings/6255-purchase-of-tampons-sanitary-pads-panty-liners-by-state-australia-december-2015-201506010512 Going back to Dr Rosewarne's article, 42% plus 62% totals 104%, meaning that only 4% of the women surveyed said they used both. This figure seems very low to me. Most women I've known well enough to know what they used (admittedly a small sample size!) used both.
