I thought I was through with pads. But a few months ago, I had bleeding. At that point, it was only spotting. I had gotten rid of all of my pads except for a partially used package of Up and Up pads in the trunk of my car. I bought those when I first got my car and learned that the cup holders did not hold a can of Diet Coke securely. I purchased the pads to quickly sop up the mess.
My daughter left some winged U by Kotex pads here so at least I had those, but... I hate wings and the pads were so old, they lost the sticky on the bottom.
What to do? All of the pads I found in most stores have that icky gel in them. It stinks and it chafes/gives me a rash. I did luck out and find some pure cotton pads at fancy grocery store. No rash with those but they bunch up and my flow was flowing everywhere but the pad. I tried other cotton pads that were more expensive and totally wrong. Some had wings. Did not realize when I bought them. The others were oddly short, too narrow in the middle and flared out widely, front and back so that I had four bits of pad wanging out the leg holes of my panties. Not the look I wanted to rock!
A new Dollar Store opened near a restaurant I go to almost weekly. They had Coralite brand pads. Perfect! No wings. No gel. Just a long straight pad!
But then? The flow worsened. Long story short, my Drs. are surmising that I have a bleeding disorder called ITP. I have low platelets, anemia, hellatious nose bleeds that require the use of many tampons, and easy bruising. That didn't explain the vaginal bleeding but it could explain why it was getting worse.
Gyno thinks I have too much estrogen. Could be. Some years ago a NP told me she thought I had low estrogen. I had been using a phytoestrogen cream. I stopped using that and switched to a progesterone cream. Eventually the bleeding stopped. But...
I needed a biopsy on my endometrial buildup to see if it was cancer. Am still awaiting the results of that. Took a while to get it done because I needed to have stable platelets. If I was in an unstable state, the Dr. said I could bleed to death and there would be nothing he could do to stop it.
He gave me a panty liner as he said I might have spotting and to go home and get in bed with a heating pad as I'd have horrible cramps. Well...
Not much in the way of cramps but scary bleeding! Luckily I found some U by Kotex Overnight pads with no wings. They do have gel but I had no choice because the bleeding was so profuse. Mostly I have been lounging around. I did go to a party on Sat. I had the biopsy on Thu. The bleeding has finally slacked to spotting and now I am having cramps. Grrr...
At any rate, I am glad that I don't have to Rely (throwback tampon) on the crappy pads that are on the market today. They pretty much are all insufficient. The Dollar Store ones are pretty good but they only had that one style with no wings and they're really only good for a light flow.
