I see Facebook has rescinded its ban on the ad: mumbrella.com.au/these-issues-are-complicated-facebook-backtracks-on-decision-to-ban-modibodi-period-underwear-ad-644902A spokesperson for Facebook said "After further review and consultation with our teams, we are pleased that Modibodi’s ads will now be shared across our platforms in their entirety." In less encouraging news, as the Mumbrella article also reports, the Australian advertising industry's self regulation body, Ad Standards, has received "less than 30" complaints about the ad, and is expected to announce its decision regarding the complaints by the end of October.

I didn't think this ad was terrible at all - I thought it was no more than what they sometimes advertise on the TV anyhow.

I see the Australian advertising industry's self regulation body, Ad Standards, has dismissed the complaints about the ad, finding that: "The Panel considered that the depiction of blood in the context of an advertisement for feminine hygiene products is not against prevailing community standards on health and safety. The Panel noted that the depiction is an accurate presentation of a real physical occurrence. The Panel noted that although some members of the community would prefer not to see bodily functions displayed on television, it was not a depiction which could be found to breach the Code and it’s depiction in an advertisement which would be viewed by a broad audience including children is not inappropriate."
