Very brief - the video only runs for four minutes, but it's still worth a look. It's actually a history of commercials for menstrual products. I'm a bit surprised to discover that the word "tampon" was used in 1970's commercials, but apparently that word was more acceptable than "period". The word "period" was first used in an ad on American TV, by Courteney Cox in a 1985 ad for Tampax tampons. (CC went on to star as Monica in Friends in 1994.) The full ad can be viewed here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=koYcUw4Ddkg. Most interesting to me is the ad for Bodyform, which starts at about 2.57. I've never seen this ad before, and apparently it was made in response to a post by a man on the company's Facebook page. That post, and the full ad are here: Bodyform – The Truth Case Study. A story of Social Campaigns vs. Strategy www.targetinternet.com/case-study-bodyform-the-truth/. Perhaps I'm overly suspicious, but I wonder if the Facebook post was genuine, or just a way to start Bodyform's marketing campaign.
