Here's links to two articles that discuss the appropriateness of Wimbledon requiring female players to wear white clothing. The BBC article refers to a tweet by Monica Puig, a former professional player who won the singles title at the 2016 Olympics: "Definitely something that affects female athletes! Finally bringing it to everyone’s attention! Not to mention the mental stress of having to wear all white at Wimbledon and praying not to have your period during those two weeks." The article also discusses the effect of periods on performance, quoting Chinese player Zheng Qinwen, "the only player to take a set off the unstoppable Iga Swiatek at this year's French Open, [who] was hampered by stomach cramps in the final two sets. She said afterwards it was down to 'girl things,' adding: 'I have to do sport and I always have so much pain on the first day. I couldn't go against my nature.'" The article on the Sport Bible website covers much of the same ground as the BBC article, but it also includes a quote from Catherine Whitaker, a British sports reporter, presenter and commentator, who said: "I live in fear of getting my period during a week when I’m presenting on TV. And that involves no strenuous physical activity, policing of my toilet breaks (unless working with a very diligent floor manager) or requirement to wear white. It’s time to talk about periods." Some more comments from an article on the MSN website by two Aussie tennis players, Daria Saville and Priscilla Hon: Saville says skipped her period that was due around the time of Wimbledon because she didn't want to worry about bleeding through her clothing. She also says: "We are only allowed two toilet breaks during the match. Thank god I had a female umpire. I explained to her what is happening and then I waited for someone to bring me a tampon because I didn’t have any...It was also 38 degrees on that day, that’s why I said it sucks to be a girl sometimes". Presumably, this quote is a reference to a match she played at the Australian Open - I'm pretty sure there haven't been any 38C days at Wimbledon, lol. Priscilla Hon talks about having her period while playing a Wimbledon junior doubles match: "They would film us at change overs and zoom in and I had towels all over me and I would have to get my doubles partner to keep checking to see if it didn’t get through my bike pants onto my skirt. The goal for the match after that was to just not leak all the way through. Tennis comes second when that’s happening and you can’t really think about anything else after that." Link: Wimbledon has a strict all-white dress code. Daria Saville skipped her period because of it.
